OUR STORY

Foubister Architects is a full service architecture studio dedicated to the design of custom homes that are deeply responsive to both client and place. Each project begins with a simple premise: to listen carefully, understand fully, and translate those insights into architecture that feels both natural and enduring.

Our work spans regions and architectural styles, yet is unified by a consistent approach. Every home is thoughtfully crafted to reflect the way our clients live, while being grounded in the character and conditions of its surroundings. The result is architecture that feels considered, appropriate, and quietly distinctive.

We guide projects from early concept through construction, placing equal value on the process as the outcome. Clear communication, collaboration, and trust are central to how we work, ensuring the journey is as rewarding as the finished home.

Our ethos is simple. Create meaningful architecture that endures, enhances daily life, and leaves a lasting impression through its restraint, clarity, and connection to place.

A home is more than shelter, it is where life unfolds and memories are gathered and shared with the people who matter most.

RORY FOUBISTER

Rory Foubister was born and raised in England before moving to the United States in his teenage years. He studied architecture at the Edinburgh College of Art and completed his postgraduate degree at Lund University, grounding his design approach in both British and Scandinavian influences.

He began his career working across Edinburgh, London, and Berlin, gaining a diverse perspective before returning to the United States to found Foubister Architects. Along the way, he had the privilege of contributing to the work of respected studios each shaping his approach to craft, clarity, and execution.

Rory leads his practice with a focus on thoughtful, enduring residential design, balancing creativity with the realities of cost and schedule. His work is rooted in listening closely to clients and creating homes that feel personal, grounded, and quietly refined.

At home, Rory shares life with his wife Jill and their two young children, Ewan and Ella. The studio often reflects that same energy, with a constant flow of ideas and, more often than not, a strong pot of coffee close at hand.
