Foubister Architects is a full service award-winning architecture firm that focuses on the experiences and emotions that thoughtful design can provide. Every project regardless of its scope or budget should share a single goal; to leave the user inspired.

We provide every aspect of the development process, from concept sketching to construction detailing, always with a focus on listening to the client. As such every design is a direct response to both the client and the location.

The firm has a particular focus on residential design and puts a heavy emphasis on collaboration and honest communication. Every project should start with a roll of trace and engage the user at every step of the process. Our ethos is to create timeless architecture that is conscious of our environment, always striving to integrate sustainable practice at every turn.

RORY FOUBISTER

Born and raised in England he emigrated to America in his teenage years. He studied Architecture at Edinburgh University (College of Art) and his post graduate degree at Lund University in Sweden.

He has worked in Edinburgh, London and Berlin before relocating back to America and founding Foubister Architects. He has had the pleasure and privilege to work with influential Architecture firms such as Marmol Radziner, Horst Architects and McClean Design each providing valuable lessons. He is dedicated to providing quality Architecture that stays true to the parameters of Design, Cost and Schedule. 

Rory has two young children, Ewan (7) and Ella (4) and an incredible wife, Jill. As such there is always a big pot of coffee ready in the office!

Meet the Team

  • Jill Foubister

    A Californian native Jill assists with the business management and marketing for the firm, all while juggling being a super-mom and teacher. Prior to joining the firm Jill managed and taught at a yoga studio and is dedicated to maintaining a healthy balance in life. In addition she has studied and strongly believes in the practice of Feng shul, pushing for healthy living and always has sage on hand the energy.

  • Nour Kassam

    Nour also hails from a European background, growing up in both Rome and Paris she has been surrounded by progressive and thoughtful design. Her passions lies with creating meaningful Architecture that infuses sustainable design. She’s never shy to push the envelope.

  • Jason Reed

    Jason is our office lumberjack/carpenter who is the always willing to get hands on with a project. Any opportunity to collect wood samples and Jason jumps, currently he’s secured enough samples to build a small cabin. His prior experience was from the commercial sector and applies the tight timeframes and regimented structure to ensure projects are under control and on time.

  • Kendall Harris

    A licensed Architect with over a decade of experience in all things Residential, always providing a different insight to compliment the Architectural Design. A graduate of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a Bachelors of Architecture and a Minor in Real property development, Kendall has the unique ability to look at a building from all angles both Interior and Exterior, to listen to clients needs, and work through project hurdles.

  • Nathan Cowle

    Nathan’s our rock star Sketchup guru, who can quickly turn a hand sketch into a three dimensions model that brings the sketch to life. His experience is focused in the residential sector and is comfortable with homes of all scales.
